I think the aspect of the Romanticism movement that grabs my attention the most is that of pasión. In today’s more impersonal society, I think that passion in life is all too often overlooked or lacking. I think that every other aspect of Romanticism that we discussed can ultimately be traced back to passion—passion for life, passion for love, passion for nature, passion for liberty, passion for God, etc. All of these elements wouldn’t carry such importance if it wasn’t for the pasión, a driving force behind individuals and behind the movement itself. I see pasión as the embodiment of the Romanticism movement. The romantics carried with them this amazing passion for what they believed and that is what made the movement what it was, this willingness to live in the moment—to see life from an active perspective instead of living passively, to show unencumbered emotion—this is the Romanticism movement.
